About

My name is Donald Anderson.

I am a Counsellor. I hold a BA Degree in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick.

I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)  and therefore I am committed to work within BACP’s Ethical Framework.

Or to put it another way:

I am a person. When I am not working as a therapist I work as a teacher of English in one of Shetland’s Junior High Schools. When I’m not counselling or teaching, I write songs and poems, sing, play in a band. When I’m not doing that I go fishing for trout, read books, listen to music or watch TV.

Counselling is important to me. It is work that requires me to be empathic, accepting and genuine.

Working with people in this way is precious. To be trusted by another person, often with the darkest, most secret parts of their self, to walk beside them as they make the sometimes painful journey to becoming more fully their self, is a privilege.
